“Being a model for adverts and a few magazines, I have been to many places and come to know that there are lots of unseen destinations that await our discovery. And the province that impresses many visitors with its nature, architectures, delicious food and shopping places is Songkhla. Since I personally like architecture, I took lots and lots of photos at the old quarter of Songkhla on Nakhon Nok Road, Nakhon Nai Road and Nang Ngam Road. The Sino-Portuguese buildings are really cool. Then there are the old hotels with their splendid fretworks, the sacred shrine of Guan Yu and the Chinese-style shophouses that are full of old memories. “All these reflect the traditional atmosphere of classic Songkhla. For shopping, Kim Yong
Market is the place to visit. This is an old market in Hat Yai which offers lots of goods and food. I confirm this is a lively and a fun place to be. Bargaining is common but whether it is a good deal or not depends on your negotiation skill. What I also like is that both sides of the street are packed with food stalls. My favourite one is Cha Chak. What could be better than a cup of cold iced tea and rotis in a great variety after shopping burn out? The highlight is the tea-making performance by the
Muslim owner. I was very much impressed with Songkhla. It was a pity that I was there to do my job, so I could not extend my stay. But I plan to go there during the coming New Year.”
